In 14 days of
training with registered instructors of the
Bowen
Therapy Academy of Australia,
over a period of at least six months, you learn a comprehensive health system
that enables you to aid the recovery from a large range of internal and musculo-skeletal
conditions. You learn procedures that balance the body overall, plus a range of
procedures that address specific areas of the body, and still others to use in
cases where conditions don't respond readily to the basic procedures.
The Curriculum
in Detail
The
Bowenwork®
procedures are taught in six modules of new material, each 16 classroom hours long. The
modules must be taken in sequence because each one reviews and builds on what
was taught previously. Each module is two consecutive days.
Two modules may be taken back to back; in such a case two months must elapse
before taking the next two modules to provide time for practice and to develop
an understanding of the power of the moves. Alternatively, if only one module is
taken at a time, only one month must elapse between each module.
Module 7 is a two-day testing module, administered by an assessing instructor
who cannot have been your instructor in Modules 3-6.
One month must elapse between Module 6
and Module 7.
The content of
each module is standard in every country where BTAA-accredited instructors
teach. This means that you can travel and study with any combination of BTAA-accredited
instructors and be assured that you will have learned the same procedures as all
of your classmates, regardless of their previous instructors.
Every module
includes:
 |
Demonstration of each procedure,
with detailed explanation of anatomical landmarks |
 |
Explanation and discussion of the procedures and indications for their use.
The manuals include detailed notes, with photographs and anatomical diagrams |
 |
Extensive supervised hands-on practice, with feedback from the instructor(s) |
 |
Ample review of procedures taught in previous modules |
Staying Current
with the Bowenwork Academy USA and BTAA
The $75 registration fee is a yearly fee that covers a year’s
subscription to the Bowen Therapy Academy of Australia’s quarterly publication
Bowen Hands, admittance to the members’ section of the international Bowenwork
website, and our administrative costs. After completing the requirements to
become a professional practitioner, the fee also includes a listing on the
website for referrals. For professional practitioners, this yearly fee must be paid before you can take and get
credit for any continuing education classes.
We ask our professional
practitioners to remain current in their yearly registration fee. Not only
does it support the efforts of the BTAA to promote Tom Bowen's unique work, but
it supports YOU! Staying current in your registration means you
will always have access to continuing education to expand your understanding and
increase your skills.
While the vast
majority of students complete Modules 1-7 within a year, occasionally a
student will take longer than one year to complete the program.
The $75 fee is still due from those students who wish to continue to
receive the quarterly Bowen Hands and have access to the
members section of the website; however, the student must be current
with the $75 yearly fee at the time Module 7 is taken.
Upon
completion of Module 7, to remain active with the Bowenwork Academy USA and BTAA,
students are required to take 32 hours of continuing
education (CEs) every two years. For more information
